Gig Round-Up: Towns - 13th Jan @ The Flapper

Friday 13th January - The Sharp Darts played at The Flapper in Birmingham along with up and comers Towns, Silvershores and acoustic hero Tim Fletcher. In this post we let you know all about Towns.

On top of the world by all accounts, Towns made their way to Birmingham with the news that Xfm had played their single, always a bonus! A few round of bacon sandwiches later, Towns were on their way to the first day of their tour in sunny Birmingham.

We'd had a good listen to these lads beforehand and were keen to see what they were like. On tour and getting noticed by the likes of NME, there was definitely something going on here worth listening to.

They followed on from Silvershores love of the effects pedal in a similar ilk, with effects blaring out from the stage creating a shoegaze soundscape to be proud of. As a guitarist, you're always listening to what each guitar is doing, but it was hard to keep up. There were good noises being made, but I was losing track of where they were coming from.

The vocals held the songs together and kept my feet tapping, for us these guys definitely lived up to the hype and were great to watch. It's always good when your going on after a band on top of their game as it means you've got to raise the bar and play at your best.
